In this position as a wireless systems architect, you will be a key part of the Communication Business Team at Xilinx. This is a customer facing role who will work with Tier 1 customers and propose solutions on state-of-the art wireless technologies in the cellular infrastructure, remote radio heads, and backhaul technologies. This person will partner closely with sales and marketing to find the right solution for the customer’s problems. Additionally, work with product planning to create, drive, and execute the next generation systems for our key partners.

Responsibilities:
Be a trusted technical advisor to Tier 1 customers and drive the creation and execution of high value products:
Create long-term architectural level relationships with the technical experts who design and influence the evolution of the target application at both customers and customer’s customer.
Position Xilinx products in Wireless applications, defining the system level requirements for Silicon, IP, SW, and Tools, and achieve design wins at target customers for Wireless Base Stations and Mobile Backhaul platforms.
System solutions analysis and creation - Gather requirements & specifications and translating those needs into effective solutions in order to meet customer expectations
Determine technical scope, develop performance estimates, and assist with customer programs for Xilinx products, third party products, and related services
Collaborate with Business Leads, Product Marketing Managers, and Sales to define prioritized design win targets
Drive business with the customer by identifying new business opportunities based on expanding existing solutions as well as creating new ones based on the needs of the customer.
Lead technical response (architectural proposal) to RFQs and RFPs.
Drive unique and compelling value into the application roadmaps and product definitions for silicon and IP (both horizontal and market specific).
Drive product definition sessions with key architects at target customers. Ensure application/market requirements drive product technical specifications.
Drive feasibility assessments and recommend/review/approve product definitions with PM, TME, and other relevant groups, as applicable.
Support the following Patents and trade secrets (as appropriate
Participate in industry conferences, workshops, panels, standards committees, etc.
Publish articles in industry publications, prepare applications notes, and white papers
Up to 20% Travel Required (Both Domestic and International)

Requirements:
Minimum BS/MS in EE or Equivalent Technical Degree; Prefer MS/PhD with emphasis on Signal Processing
10+ yrs experience in System design of wireless base station and/or Microwave backhaul platforms
Top 10 OEM Platforms for Base Stations and/or Microwave Backhaul
Strong experience and understanding of the practical aspects of wireless system design and deployment
Competitive Silicon Architectures and Solutions used in Base Station/RRH and Microwave Backhaul Platforms
System Expertise in one or more of the following Areas:
LTE Base Station Radio RF (Digital Front End/Analog Front End) – Signal Processing Algorithms (DPD/CFR), MIMO, Adaptive Antenna, etc.
LTE Base Station Physical Layer Baseband Processing – Physical channel characteristic, Modulation, Multiplexing, Channel coding, Beamforming, etc.
Microwave/E-band PtP Backhaul Platforms – Modem Processing (LDPC/RS, XPIC, A-DPD, 2048/4096 QAM, etc.), ADC/DAC front-end, Packet Processing, etc.
System characterization of wireless platforms
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are an essential requirement for this role
Good understanding of 3GPP specifications
Sound technical background and knowledge of FPGA, DSP, ARM Processors, embedded SW/RTOS, and Sub-system micro-architectures
Excellent customer interactions and presentation skills are an essential requirement for this role
