As a Google Cloud, Strategic Customer Engineer, you are responsible for customers success on Google Cloud Platform and managing trusted technical advisory relationships with our strategic customers who have chosen Google Cloud Platform.

You will be responsible for overseeing the technical integration, platform adoption, cost/performance optimizations, and taking the lead on critical customer projects from start to finish. You will work closely with a cross-functional team to ensure rapid and accurate resolution of technical challenges. From monitoring product performance to debugging and troubleshooting product code, you are the resident expert that addresses customer needs and advocates for it internally. You are passionate about Cloud Computing and Google Cloud Platform, including Google App Engine, Google Compute Engine, BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, and more.

Success in this role involves using your project and product management skills to deal with running multiple projects at the same time, and applying your software engineering expertise to lead the timely execution of adapting the Google Cloud Platform solutions to the customer’s requirements. You are an active expert/leader in the cloud area and you strongly believe that you can help any industry build its next generation business software in the cloud.

Responsibilities
Establish roadmap and key project milestones for concurrent engagements, advocate internally for product features and business direction, and proactively identify technical dependencies and roadblocks to mitigate risks and ensure successful execution of projects.
Recommend cloud solutions by using your technical breadth across multiple areas, and manage strategic alliances among Google and partners/customers to promote adoption and interoperability of their existing applications and infrastructure solutions to Google Cloud Platform.
Deliver best practices recommendations, tutorials, blog articles and technical project presentations adapting to different levels of key business and technical stakeholders. Drive partner advisory board initiatives.
Identify new product features and feature gaps, provide guidance on existing product issues, and collaborate with Solutions Architects and Engineers to influence the growth of Google Cloud Platform.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or Math or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in leading or working on technical projects. Experience working under deadlines and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in writing software in one or more languages such as Java, Go, Python, PHP or similar.
Experience with any of the following: Linux, DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ, Load Balancing, VPN, VPC, database systems, distributed compute environments, application development, mobile development, big data analytics, fundamentals of cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems and content delivery networks.

Preferred qualifications:
MS degree or PhD in Computer Science or Math and/or a technically-oriented MBA degree.
9 years of relevant experience in software development, professional services, solution engineering, technical consulting; with expertise in architecting and rolling out new technology and solution initiatives.
Current hands-on experience in building multi-tier high availability applications with modern web technologies. NoSQL, MongoDB, Hadoop.
Experience with compute technologies (such as Docker, Mesos, OpenStack, Kubernetes), data processing software (such as Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive) or open source software (such as Cassandra, MongoDB, RabbitMQ).
Effective customer-facing communication skills. Proven success in and genuine enthusiasm for working directly with customer.
Willing to travel 20% (domestic and international).
